I just made the switch to Google Messages from Samsung Messages, and I'm having trouble with the font size. In Google messages the font size is larger than the rest of my phone. I full zoomed out with pinch-to-zoom. I took side-by-side screenshots of a text conversion in Google messages and Samsung messages and I lost about 40% of my screen real-estate. I tried change the phone's system font size, but that makes the font way too small on everything else.
Does anyone know how to make Google Messages respect the phone's system font? Or just make the conversations more compact in general? I could not find any settings to achieve this.
Google messages has pinch-zoom to increase the font size for readability. Also, I have never had a problem with the font size in Google messages when I set the phone's font size in the size and style settings of the phone. Only the Samsung basic fonts are recognized by google messages, so if you have a fancy downloaded font, that could be why the font size won't change. I like basic fonts on my phone, so I use SamsungOne
Well, I'm trying to decrease the font size, not increase it. And I have fully zoomed out with pinch to zoom. I have set the phone's font size to 2nd from smallest size, with default font type. Which is as small as I can go for my other apps like gmail, otherwise they're microscopic. It is still annoyingly several sizes larger in Google Messages than the rest of the apps on my phone. It's like having font size 12 on the phone, but then 16 in the messages, if i could give it numbers.
It's so annoying, I can only see half of the conversation at a time compared to Samsung Messages
Which phone do you have? I noticed that the font is demonstrably larger, even at the smallest size, on A series phones as opposed to S series phones. Has something to do with the screen resolution. Yeah, in Google messages, pinch zoom will only increase the font size from normal, not shrink it. I don't know why you can only see part of a conversation even with the font set small. Depending on how many messages you have in a chat, you will either see more of the conversation or less. Scrolling is inevitable. You can't follow a conversation by scrolling?
