Samsung Apps and ServicesThe first time you open a new messaging app it can take several hours to a couple of days to repopulate all your messages, especially if you have a lot. If you are concerned about losing any, you can download an app called SMS backup and restore and back them all up.

Samsung Apps and ServicesThen download SMS backup and restore, open Samsung Messages, back up all your messages and then restore them to Google. Your messages are also retained in your nightly automatic backup, so you can restore them from there. There is absolutely no reason all your messages should not be in Google messages as both apps are just a shell - a vehicle for displaying, sending and receiving messages and what is in one will be in the other.
I don't understand why you would keep important information like recipes and products you are interested in in messages rather than downloading the information - especially recipes or addresses.
