My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

I'm experiencing the exact same issue, the app won't stay open allowing me the opportunity to respond to messages.  I've fully shut down and restarted several times today.  Is this common with Samsung? I've also been having a number of problems with the samsung internet browser app.

I just downloaded Google messages and it transferred over all of my texts and now I can text out. Must be an issue with Samsung messager.

As Gary said disable Google meets. Make sure you have default messaging set to Samsung and it should work. Just in case you changed it to Google.

I downloaded google messages in the meantime. It works but is annoying because I don't receive sms notifications on my galaxy watch active 2 because it's an older OS. Started yesterday morning and ive tried everything from 2023 as well.
