One thing has nothing to do with the other.  When BT is turned on, it will attempt to connect to devices *already* paired with  your phone and will show a list of available devices to pair.  No device can be paired without your input.  BT has nothing to do with telemarketing calls.  I don't know why a) your Bluetooth is automatically going on if you have it off or b) why you keep it off in the first place.  I always have it on because I always have my watch connected.  I have never been "Bluejacked".

If a bad actor got access to your phone, it is usually because of malware you obtained by visiting a bad website or downloading a rogue app or an app with rogue malware disguised as advertising.  Exploits also happen through public wi-fi networks or even your home wi-fi network if you did not close ports you don't use or change the administrative default password.  I am 100% positive your issues have nothing to do with the update.  Make sure you have app protection turned on in the security settings, turn on autoblocker,  and use a VPN, especially when on public wi-fi networks.

I keep seeing a lot of people (rightfully) complaining about this update but one thing you CAN fix that customer service has told some people they can't is the settings/notifications. With Ui 7 if you swipe down on the top left it shows notifications. Top right is settings. This sucks if you use your phone with one hand. You can change it by swiping down on the to right to pull down settings, hit the little pen next to the power button to edit the settings, hit 'panel settings' (top left), then change the setting from 'seperate' to 'together'. After that it'll be the same as it use to be with settings at the top and notifications below them no matter where you swipe. Hope this helps y'all make this dog water update more usable šŸ‘

Called att. They blame samsung and say there's nothing they can do. But they would be happy for me to pay off my device and upgrade. Also tell me to tell samsung to do an out kf warranty replacement. Samsung laughs and blames Google and says they can't fix it but for a fee I can mail them my phone and they'll fix it. Can't even get in touch with Google. Samsung made me do a network reset thing that made the problems worse.

Try backing up your data and resetting your phone. It's not fun but maybe it will help.

But I'm told I lose data that way. That a backup doesn't save everything and u lose stuff anyway. How can people get samsung to quit **bleep** our phones and give us a choice? I said no to the update as much as I could until it got **bleep**

Yes, you may lose some personal data in a reset, but if it was important to you, you should have been backing it up independently regularly anyway.  Whether it gets restored or not depends on whether it was saved within the apps or was downloaded.  But, if you want a working phone, sometimes that's the price you pay.  If your phone is working, you can still back up the stuff that is not contained in the backup by using Smart Switch and and a flash drive or computer.
