Removal of topic blocks from Newsfeed

I would love it if Samsung allowed removal of entire topic blocks from the newsfeed. In my case I would remove sports, stocks and celebrities. The app has positive follow options but not negative ones, seeming to neglect those of us with an absolute preference where literally any sports story is a waste of time. (I'm only recently experimenting with the Samsung feed after the Google feed turned out not to be smart enough to screen out X posts.) I don't spend a lot of time on these feeds, just spare moments, but why devote a spare moment to what I perceive as spam?

Samsung News does offer the option to hide sources.

Open an article, tap the source, tap 3 dots, top right, hide stories from source.

Yes, but they specifically state that content you excluded may still show up in editors choice, which is the very first section you see when you open the app.

My suggestion is to find another news app that will allow the customization you want, not what they think you should see.  I occasionally open the news app only to see the editors pick or morning briefing showing me news from every source I specifically excluded, before the choices I selected.  One day, when I need space on my phone, I'm going to uninstall the app - the only reason it's there in the first place is because it came preinstalled.

RSS Feed app is the way to go if you require only specific sources/topics.

Last I checked Feedly was pretty decent, though I haven't used it in some time.
