I was able to screen mirror my phone to my TV but after not using this feature for a while it stopped working.  I was also finding that when i sent a document to the printer there was a long delay before the printer was detected and the printing began.  I tried everything with no success.

SYMPTOMS
โ€ข Samsung phone screen mirroring to Samsung TV stopped working entirely
โ€ข iPad took multiple attempts to detect a wireless printer (AirPrint delays)
โ€ข All phone and TV settings appeared correct

WHAT I TRIED THAT DIDNโ€™T WORK
โ€ข Checked and reconfigured all settings on my Samsung phone and TV based on Samsungโ€™s support website.  Also visited Samsung recommended phone repair shop to seek their help without success.

โ€ข Contacted Verizon FIOS support โ€” they could not identify the cause
โ€ข Reviewed my G3100 router settings without finding an obvious culprit

THE CAUSE
I found a clue on an online community forum where someone with a similar problem had resolved it with the help of their ISP who remotely changed their router settings.  That led me to look harder at my router and when Verizon couldnโ€™t help I used AI to identify productive options.  I had OpenDNS configured on my G3100 router for family content filtering. What I didnโ€™t realize is that the router has a separate built-in feature called DNS Rebinding Protection that activates alongside custom DNS settings. This feature interferes with mDNS (Multicast DNS), and is the protocol that Samsung Smart View/Miracast and Apple AirPrint both rely on to discover devices on the local network.

THE FIX
1. If you have a DNS forwarding service enabled on your router, log into it and look under Advanced โ†’ Security โ†’ DNS
2. Disable DNS Rebinding Protection
3. Test screen mirroring and/or printing

IMPORTANT: Disabling DNS Rebinding Protection has NO effect on OpenDNS filtering. OpenDNS operates at the level of external domain lookups and continues to block malicious and inappropriate content for every device on your network. You are not giving up your content filtering by making this change. DNS Rebinding Protection is a separate router-level feature that guards against a different and relatively uncommon attack type.

Hope this helps someone โ€” it was a tough one to track down!
