After a recent upgrade to One UI 8.0, programs within Secure Folder cannot access files also within Secure Folder.

In particular, the Secure Folder versions of Snapseed (photo editing), Protonmail, and Discord cannot find secured files.  Google photos, and Samsung Gallery seem unaffected.

Any help?

Do you understand what we are talking about?

Did you ever use the secure folder and if yes, for what scenario exactly?

I have for example a Keepass file inside the secure folder and I would love to open it with my Keepass application that is installed in the secure folder as well ;-).

But really, tell us one useful thing that you can do with the secure folder in the current state under UI8?

Glad you were able to get to talk with a technician and get their response.

Unfortunately, this forum is a user only forum and does not have any Samsung representation. Even I was earlier under the impression that Samsung may be monitoring this forum, but apparently not.

The only way to get through to them is to flood them with bug reports and hope it gets their attention.

Ah, so an app INSIDE the secure folder should NOT be able to access a file that is located INSIDE the secure folder? Is that really what you want to tell us?😂🤣

And why was it different in UI7?

So, apps INSIDE the secure folder shall only be able to access data OUTSIDE the secure folder?😂🤣

Seriously?

Then the secure folder is completely useless since UI8.

Otherwise, please explain me the logic behind it.......

Good morning,

You're research seems to be flawed.  Apps inside the secure folder like Gmail, yahoo and chats can no longer access images and docs also in the secure folder.  You have to copy the file to your regular folder then resecure it after use.

This is due to the security fix in the new update.  The fact that all files and apps are in the same folder and access is still restricted is obviously a flaw.

Please advise on a fix or at least a prices to enable attaching pics and files in a secure folder to an app in a secure folder.

Your response does not reflect reality.  You cannot attach a secure folder Pic or video to an app in the secure folder.  The option folder is blank.

Reinstalled all,  deleted cache,  still no joy. Yahoo mail,  Gmail, nothing sees the files.  However,  in the gallery,  all files are viewable.

Please fix.

Secure folder is a mess with this update, auto lock was removed, secure folder accounts are visible outside secure folder, apps can't acess the file system..

I've got the same issue across multiple apps in secure folder. The file picker seems to be broken and only has access to files *outside* the secure folder. And Samsung's response to this (a few posts up) is...not great.
