Samsung Apps and ServicesI just recently received my Note 8 from Verizon.
I truly love this phone except for the fact that I can't get Smart View to work. I have tried it with 2 Samsung TV's, an Amazon Fire TV, a Google Chromecast, and even a USB C to HDMI adapter. Smart View never connects and never recognized the USB adapter.
Is their a bug in the software for the phone? It is showing as fully up to date.

Samsung Apps and ServicesHave tried all the suggestions but none work. I don't see SmartView on the drop-down menu (not on the first or second page) even if I start SmartView (which I had to download) from the apps drawer. Hopeless.

Samsung Apps and ServicesSo what exactly does "reset all settings" mean? Factory reset? Do we have to lose all apps, photos and data for this to work again?

Samsung Apps and ServicesI am back. Last night I used the pull-down menu from the top of my screen (the one you pull down to see the screen brightness slider and the icons for your most-used settings like Wi-Fi, etc.) and pulled down the double-line bar to see more of my settings icons. On the second screen, I saw the icon for 'Smart View'. It was greyed-out, so I selected it again to turn it ON (now blue). That was part of the solution, but at that point, 'Smart View' was still not connecting to my TV. Do not assume that opening the 'Smart View' app, and seeing your TV's name listed means that 'Smart View' is ON.
The second part was that I had to go into my Samsung TV's settings and tell it to connect to my phone. It had done this right after I bought the phone (although I do not recall if I set it up or if it automatically did it for me), but somehow it lost the connection. So I saw my phone listed twice already, both as 'Connected', but I still could not use 'Smart View'. I had to search for devices again, and my phone came up again as a third device. Now my phone was listed 3 times. I selected the phone again, but I selected the newly found one; not one of the existing two. I had to then confirm the connection on my TV. Once I did, it all worked again.
So the trick is to make sure 'Smart View' is turned ON in your phone settings AND to go into the TV settings and reconnect your phone, even if it shows your device already. I hope this helps.
