Samsung Apps and ServicesIs there anywhere on the samsung website where we can find a list of all safe apps on the phone. Or may I suggest samsung post a list of all current applications known to samsung that are being used as malware or ransomware. Last week I found an app 10327 on my phone. I called Norton to have the app removed from my phone. As I called norton the individual intercepted my call and pretended to be norton but someone who was introducing better malware protection. He generated a invoice. Asked me to download logmein app then asked me to log into norton. He canceled my subscription. Looked at my ip address. Once I saw the invoice I knew it was not someone working with Norton. Nortons logo was no where on the invoice. There should be a dedicated team that updates the new malware/ransomware and upkeeps a list of all safe apps on our phones.

Samsung Apps and ServicesDo you have app protection turned on? Do you have another malware detector/protector on your phone? Do you use a VPN? Malware such as the one you found usually ends up there because you downloaded a game with adware and at least one ad had bad code in it, or by clicking a link in an email or browser. I suggest that if you get an anti-malware program, you *not* use Norton, as that is the most commonly spoofed malware. People who have Norton see the warning and click it, which perpetuates the malware (especially people who don't know what a Norton warning actually looks like). Even some people who don't have Norton, either assume it's the phone's protection kicking in or that somehow Norton is monitoring their device even if they never turned on the protection.
The best you can do for yourself is get Malwarebytes, don't download ad driven games (the apps might pass Play Protect standards, but the ads may not), and don't click on any ad that does pop up. Use a VPN to avoid IP address interceptions, like you had.
I don't know why you would call Norton to remove malware from your device, they don't remove malware that way. If you actually had Norton, you would use the quarantine/removal feature to get rid of the malware. If you got the number you called from the pop-up you received, your call was not actually intercepted, you actually called the scammer.

Samsung Apps and ServicesI called Norton because I found the ransomware in my data usage even after running the scan with norton and Verizon play protect.
I check every app and link that I open or download. I don't play games. I deleted all the games on my phone.
A few months ago I had a neighbor setup a cell phone booster connected to a device. The device picked up on my cell phone internet cameras laptops and all the devices I owned. I no longer had control of my phone or cameras. Malware app avg was blocked and other apps too.
I am very cautious on what I download and open on my phone.
Thank you for the advice. I will look into the phone protection you suggested.
I was hoping there was a forum or place on samsung website to help detect latest scams and malware. Also to know which applications are safe that are running in the background.
