The edge compass installed has a problem with the coordinates. The longitude in the picture should be -117°

Common convention is to indicate E or W for the longitude instead of +/-. If W wasn't indicated a sign would be indicated. But they are not used together.

On GPS coordinates +/- are important. -117° is in California and +117° as shown on the compass is in China.

The coordinates for that location can be expressed as either:

  • +34.536217 latitude -​117.292763 longitude
  • 34.536217 N 117.292763 W  ---- The +/- is not indicated when N/S/E/W is indicated. 

They are exactly the same.

But according to the picture, it didn't say -34.... both are positive

As I mentioned, the +/- is not indicated when N/S/E/W is indicated.
