Hi I have almost used up all my phones memory but I have two photo apps on my phone with duplicate photos in each.  One is called 'photos' and the other is 'gallery' as these are both Samsung apps will I be able to delete one and which is the best app to delete. I do not want to accidentally delete all my photo's. Not sure why I have both apps? thanks

It's time to clear out apps you rarely use.

Go to settings, apps, individual go through each app and clear cache in the storage section in each app.

If you have a computer it is also time to move photos off your phone.

Now a days 128gb of storage is no longer enough.

Gallery is a Samsung app. Photos is a Google app. Those are preinstalled and cannot be removed. Photos can be disabled however by holding down the app icon selecting the little "i" on the top right of the small pop up then in the bottom you can select Disable. The Gallery app is better because from that app you can edit and do other things with your photos and videos that are built into it. Gallery cannot be disabled

Thank for the information I will disable the 'photos' app and delete all the photos on it hopefully that will give lots of extra memory.

Google Photos primarily stores photos and videos in the cloud, not directly on your phone's storage, so it doesn't directly affect your phone's memory.

If you delete photos from Google Photos, they will also be deleted from your Samsung device if you have Backup and Sync turned on in the Google Photos app on your Samsung. Google Photos acts as a backup and sync service, meaning changes made in one place are reflected in others.

It seems if you delete the photos from Google Photos they also automatically delete from Samsung Gallery so the two apps must be synced so no memory saving.

Google photos is a backup of the pics from your gallery .if u delete photos from gallery they will remain in photos in the cloud as long as they are backed up

What phone do you have?

When you say memory, do you mean storage or RAM?

You can increase storage by going to each individual app and clear cache in storage.
