Unable to get Play Store service updates

Play services or Play system? There's a difference. For info on Play system updates, search the community. There are literally dozens of posts about it.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but I think about Play System updates approximately 0 times per day. I get the security aspect, but I have yet to experience any real-world impact from Samsung's pause.

There are fixes that only come through Play system updates. Am I personally impacted by being stuck on a 7 month-old update? Not as far as I can tell. But I have more of an issue with Samsung's lack of transparency than anything else. I don't buy their excuse of "avoiding potential issues" or whatever lame attorney-approved language they came up with.

A little annoyance I have is NHL Scores by Google is not working. This can only be fixed with a Play System update.
