Hi everyone! Just had a quick question; If I sign out of my Samsung account on my phone and I haven't manually backed up any of the photos apps etc. in the secure folder, does it all get deleted? Like if I then sign back in on the same phone, will the photos and apps I had in there be gone, or does you account have to be permanently deleted for all the data from secure folder to be gone?

Your phone backs up apps, messages, call records, settings , and photos to Google unless you specifically turn it off. But, possibly not if they were moved rather than copied to the secure folder. You would have to sync your your secure data with Samsung cloud and the. It will be there should you switch phones or reset (as long as you remember the secure folder password.) it's best to make a complete smart switch backup to computer or flash drive, and to move items out of your secure folder if you are planning on switching brands.

What if the pictures were taken with secure folder camera, and apps were installed within the secure folder, on a different Google account than the one I use my main phone with?Asking because I lost my phone a while ago, and to make sure my data in secure folder stays secure, I want to sign out of my samsung account on my phone remotely, via my other Samsung device.By doing this, I want the data to be deleted permanently,  but wondering if I should just delete the whole account, that's why I asked.

I don't know that much about secure folder to be definitive on that, but I believe if what's in the folder is not backed up or synced, it will be gone with a reset. I do not believe just signing out of your Samsung account will delete all data. You might want to go to Samsung cloud and delete any data in there related to that device.

  1. But since I lost my phone I don't think I can reset it remotely...would deleting the account that my phone uses also delete the secure folder data?

If you lost your phone and someone tries to access the secure folder, they will not be able to get in. Have you looked for the phone in Samsung Find or Google find?. If you sign the device out of your accounts, you are basically handing someone a free phone. If it remains signed in, no one can reformat it and sign it into another account. Also, as long as it's logged into your accounts there is a chance you can locate it if it becomes active

I don't understand are you worried about losing your secure data if the phone is reset and it's not backed up, or just want to make sure no one can access it?

To answer your question, if the secire folder contents are not synced or backed up to the accounts, the data will remain on the phone only. So, mo, deleting the account will not delete the data. It will stll be on the phone.

But the secure folder is linked to my Samsung account, so would the data not become inaccessible or erased if I delete my account? Then there is no encryption key or anything, because it was set up and used on my account?
