What is happening with the Members app?

What is this floating bar at the bottom of the Members app after the latest update and who thought it was a good idea?

I feel like they're trying to pull away from full tabs to a pill like tab for a modern look. If you scroll down some more, you'll see your profile picture on your top right while scrolling.

It's the One UI 8.5 aesthetic. You'll find the same style of bottom bar in all Samsung apps, except this one floats more noticeably. Along with the other FABs.

Bonus points for the Farscape reference.

I don't mind the oval shape if it's anchored and does not interfere with viewing what I want to view. I understand wanting to make the design esthetic cohesive across apps. 

I was wondering if anyone would catch the Farscape ref.

Semi-transparency was an odd choice though. Maybe a placeholder for frosted glass?

When I first saw it, I was ambivalent. I do like the return to top arrow and especially like the Profile , search, 3 dot pill. Very convenient!

I don't really like anything floating over text. The return to top arrow is nice, though. If they are going to put floating things over the screen, they should at least let you move them out of the way. Nobody adked for this and nobody needs it.
