So what's wrong with it. Other than the time it signed me out 2 years ago, I've had Google messages on 2 Samsung phones (A21 then A35) for years and I've had no problems with it. Especially when RCS became a thing Google messages supported it faster and it worked easier and smoother for me. Just because it has Gemini on it all of a sudden y'all are scared about privacy or about it being a third party app. Especially when everyone well knows Google is one of the most dominant companies on the planet. ๐Ÿ˜‚

If no one likes anything that Google makes, even though some of it is along their partnership with Samsung, then we should be completely boycotting Android as a UI and ask Samsung to make their own complete UI that's not related to Google at all.

It's not just about AI. It's about the extensive customization we can do. Ever heard of "Your Galaxy, Your Way"? Well, that is the largest extent of it. Even without the even deeper options we have with GoodLock's Theme Park, we are losing conversation categories, per-conversation backgrounds (and I mean setting images, not just a preset set of colors), and more. If we include GoodLock, Theme Park, customizing the very essence of the main screen, backgrounds message bubbles, text, etc. is ALL GONE!! Google Messages sucks and forcing it is also helping Google illegally monopolize the market. If you like Google Messages, keep using it. But for the rest of us, this news hurts us deeply as it has been a major part of our lives and ONE UI that greatly makes a Galaxy, a Galaxy.

So am I not sure why you are on this feed? I mean seems you own a Google Phone, since you are so fond of their " customization " and " beauty " if you look at messages here there is even a petition already being shared to formally ask Samsung to comply with their part of the contract/ promises made of allowing us , users, have control of how our devices look and not force us to use the big tech bully mediocre, boring, app. I simply do not believe you own a Samsung device because full customization is what makes Samsung devices be different, you are free to continue enjoying your boring Google device, please let us fight for what we consider excellent, superior, impressive, dazzling, gorgeous, unique CHOICE!

I have used both in the past and will say without any doubt that Samsung Messages is triumphant when it comes to extensive customization and user-friendly simplicity UI. Again, it is one of the features that DEFINES a Galaxy device. But as you said, that's what WE said and that's that. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Aside from the fact that no matter what I do, I cannot get google messages to appear as an app. For all intents and purposes it exists, but for the life of me I can not find the app itself. I can open it from the play store, contacts, and even when I switch default messaging apps. But when I search for it, its like it doesnt even exist. Especially after seeing the same problems other people seem to have had years ago. Tried the same fixes and yet mine is still "broke". Anyone else have or have had this issue?

There may be some confusion in locating it, as it has the same name as Samsung Messages, but a different icon.  Both apps simply say "messages", not Samsung Messages or Google Messages.  Google Messages icon is a blue bubble on a white background with a rightward pointing tail.  If you don't have your settings to show new apps on your home screen once downloaded, look in your app drawer for messages.  If you don't see it, search for it.  It may be hidden for some reason.

The reason for this is simple: its garbage. Done.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, all these people cluttering up the forums with their outrage just are resistant to change - they want what they want the way they want it.  They are putting esthetics over function.  I think actually getting and sending your messages is much more important than making your app pretty.  They decided a long time ago that they hate Google and nothing is changing their mind on it. So, they are going to stomp their feet, hold their breath and sign petitions until they either suffocate or get their way.

WE THE PEOPLE have the ability to voice our opinions as you do. Call it an outrage or whatever you like, but to quote MLK here, "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about the things that matter.". The end of Samsung Messages matters to us, so we will continue to voice our request for change.
