i have samsung internet as my default browser and it worked fine until recently, now google only opens websites with chrome unless i turn off "open in app" in googles settings, but i don't like when it goes straight to the internet app itself because it'll go to the last opened tab i have and it can get annoying. i just want it to open google with internet, not chrome.

Hello innergray. Welcome back to the Samsung Community. I see that you are having trouble with your browser opening with chrome instead of the default internet. I would love to assist you with this situation. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS10001594/ (click Customize the Homepage )

Below is the link to troubleshooting steps to customize that default browser to how you prefer. If this does not solve your issue please reach back out Samsung so we can handle this issue quickly but carefully. Thank you for choosing Samsung!

Go to the 3 dots and open the same web page in your default browser

i always use google lens or google itself, i rarely use internet to make searches. i only use it for open tabs because of its ad blocker and dark mode.

I prefer Firefox and it is set as my default browser. I just saw what you spoke of on my S22 Ultra. I had just updated the versions of apps. I had to go back in the Chrome settings in Apps. Force Quit & Disabled it. It can't open now unless I want it to.

that is certainly one way to stop it, you can also turn this setting off in google but it's not exactly what i'm looking for :[1773185550205.jpg

@innergray
Let's give these steps a try.
1. Reset the Google app defaults.
Settings > Apps > Google > Set as default > Clear defaults
2. Reset your default browser.
Settings > Apps > 3 dots > Default apps > Browser app > Samsung Internet
3. Optional: Stop Chrome from taking over.
Settings > Apps > Chrome > Open supported links > Donโ€™t allow
Hope this helps!
