Gill, the only things that need the 2.4 are appliances. If its connected to SmartThings on either band, Google should be able to see it.
To link your SmartThings account to Google, try this:
- Open the Google Home app and tap the Hometab
- Tap the plus icon
- Tap Set up device
- Under Works with Google, tap Have something already set up?
- Select SmartThings
- Enter your SmartThings/Samsung account email address and tap Next
- Enter your password and tap Sign in
- Choose your SmartThings Location in the From:menu
- Tap Authorize
- All devices and Routines from this Location will be authorized
- You can assign your devices to rooms (see steps below), or tap Done>Got it
The only thing you are probably missing is authorizing SmartThings access to Google(Step 9).
