After the initial day of testing, here is some of my feedback on One UI 7.
UI and Animations:
Text in UI, and in icons (like in the status bar) are not uniform. Some text elements are misaligned, not the same boldness, etc.
Spacing with elements in UI is off, examples include the icons in quick settings, and notifications having dead space beneath text in notifications above reply options.
Animations are not consistent throughout the UI, with some actions feeling stuttery (an example being with live notifications)
Charging animations are not smooth; drop frames, not consistent with start and finish times.
Live Notifications are not grouped separately in Notification View; makes Notification view look bloated.
Drop shadows around notifications and live notifications would improve UX.
No animations in some stock apps (like the clock app), which overall affects user experience
Now Bar:
Continues to show the media player even when no media is playing or the app is closed. An option for the media behavior would be a nice addition.
Background of the media player is one static color, which does not look good. A blurred background with the colors of the album art would potentially look better.
Bugs:
Certain animations or features don't work the first time you try it but do after you restart the phone or close out apps and relaunch them. Some examples Iāve noticed include: animations for sound toggle in quick settings, Live Translate during phone calls, charging animation, etc.
Volume controls can show max volume but not actually be at max volume. If this occurs, the only way to fix it is by toggling mute/vibrate or by restarting the phone.
Recent Apps sometimes require slowly swiping up and to the right to open from the homescreen, otherwise it will flicker quickly and disappear. It works fine while in apps.
Lock screen Notifications don't work if you use the Dot indicator - it will appear initially but disappear if you check notifications in Notifications View, but do not clear them from lock screen. It seems that this would not be the intended behavior since everywhere else in the OS, the notification indicators stay unless they are cleared.
Suggested Features/Improvements:
Call notification has to be swiped on to mute or put call on speaker, current expanded view should be default view. Expanding the notification should be an option when using features like Text Call, Live Translate, and Call recording for enabling or disabling those features without having to jump into the phone screen.
A toggleable option to have the media player in the Notifications View when the quick panel is set to Together. It is currently inconvenient having to swipe twice if you want to access your media player.
Options to resize, add, and remove panels from the Quick Settings view
An option to see Notification History from the Notification View, it could potentially replace the option for Notification Settings.
Audio Playback in native apps while on a phone call. It would be amazing to have some universal feature for this, but at the very least the native apps (Samsung Music, File Manager are the only ānativeā apps that can do this).
An option to use native camera for video even while on a phone call.
Visual change in UI for when the user is on hold (phone call), but they did not initiate it.
Iām sure Iāll find some other things but these are my initial thoughts so far!
