While the OneUI 9.0 beta is not rolled out now to prior flagship devices, I find this a good platform to mention it as a consideration for the official OneUI 9.0 release for them.
As of now, the Linux Development Environment is supposedly supported on devices with SoCs that allow non-protected VMs (so, for instance, no Snapdragon chips, but yes for Mediatek and Exynos).
It has been confirmed that OneUI 8.5 ships with the full Linux Development Environment terminal option either enabled through ADB or Developer options for the Samsung Tab S11 series (and likely the S26 series devices powered by Exynos).
However, there have been confirmations that the terminal is absent on all devices not released this generation (e.g., Samsung Tab S10 series devices, which are powered by Mediatek Dimensity 9300+).
This seems like a very straightforward fix/addition since the Android Virtualization Framework which enables the feature is already shipped in Android 16. A few experiments with the ADB confirm that the Tab S10 series (and other devices in the same situation likely) fully support AVF both in terms of software and having an SoC allowing non-protected VM. The terminal is just simply not there.
It is a relatively niche feature, but expanding its accessibility to different devices (which seems straightforward on paper) would allow for higher utility and expanded possibilities on devices whose hardware support it as well as drive more demand for future development catered to this relatively new feature. It will be an overall improvement compared to other unofficial workarounds.
(I am giving slightly more emphasis on the tab S10 series as it is the only recent tab generation that can support the feature but doesn't: S9 and other older generations for instance use Snapdragon chips, so the restriction is not from Samsung there. I find the feature more commonly useful for tab users, but I also see how useful it could be for DeX users connecting their phone to a display. In general, it should be available if the hardware AND software already support it.)
