Currently users are required to predetermine how the phone will sit when not in use, specifically: LANDSCAPE OR PORTRAIT
USE CASE / REQUIREMENT:
When configuring the settings for Always On Display (AOD),, User selects between 3 screen orientation options: Auto-Rotate; Landscape,; or Portrait.
IMPACT/ COST:
Minimal development effort or complexity. Functionality currently exists and has been implemented outside of AOD. Primary cost would be associated with testing.
CONCERNS:/ RISKS:
1. Mobile device battery life may be adversely impacted. MITIGATION: Additional text communicating the battery life impact would allow user to make an informed selection.
2. Development life cycle for UI 6 maybe past the point of incorporating new functionality. MITIGATION: The functionality already exists and has been implemented elsewhere within one UI6. incorporating the auto rotate function within AOD is a low risk high reward opportunity for Samsung.
