Samsung has come a long way with One UI and hardware innovation. The Galaxy S24 Ultra, for example, is arguably the most powerful phone on the market. But despite all this, there's still one key area where Samsung lags behind Apple: social media performance and integration.
This isn’t just about the camera quality in apps like Snapchat, Instagram, and TikTok (though that’s a big one). It’s about the entire experience — the way these apps run, process media, and use device features.

What Samsung Should Do:

As a multi-billion dollar company, Samsung has the power to make a real change here. It’s time to partner directly with major social media companies like Snap Inc., Meta, ByteDance, etc., to allow them to:

• Use Samsung’s native camera APIs for full quality access (ultrawide, telephoto, night mode, 10x zoom, HDR, etc.)

• Enable feature parity with iPhones, including proper filters, portrait effects, frame rates, and smoother transitions

• Optimize post-processing and upload quality so photos and videos don’t get overcompressed or lose color

• Improve battery and thermal performance when using camera-heavy apps like TikTok and Instagram

• Enable better frame rates and animations inside the apps for a more fluid experience

Why This Matters:

Social media is a huge part of how people use their phones today. It’s not enough to have the best specs on paper — people care about how their content looks and feels inside these apps. And right now, iPhones still dominate in that area.

If Samsung can work with these companies the way Apple has, Galaxy users will finally get the flagship-level experience they paid for — not just in the stock camera app, but across the platforms they actually use every day.

The Bottom Line:

This is one of the last major things holding Galaxy back from being undeniably better than the iPhone in every single way. You’ve got the hardware. You’ve got the software. Now it’s time to make sure the world can actually see it — especially through social media.

Please consider making this a priority collaboration going forward.

P.S. I know this isn't exactly a beta issue but I want as many people to see this as possible and potentially make posts about it too in the non-beta forums.

Even though it is not a beta post, your post is great. Because this samsung devices are very expensive but very bad for social media users. Hopefully they read your post and do something about it

How would you suggest Samsung should incentivize third parties here when the company currently has issues in developing software for its own hardware? What would these partnerships look like?

That’s a fair question — and I get where you're coming from. Samsung did have a rough reputation in the past when it came to software, especially back in the TouchWiz days. But to be fair, One UI has improved massively over the last few years. It’s now one of the most polished Android experiences, with great optimization, consistent updates, and powerful AI features.
Still, I agree that software development can always be better — and that’s exactly why partnerships are key. Samsung doesn’t need to build every feature themselves. Instead, they can lean into their hardware and ecosystem strengths and collaborate with others to fill in the gaps.
As for incentives, here’s how Samsung could realistically encourage social media platforms to work with them:
1. Massive User Base
Samsung is still the #1 Android phone brand globally. Optimizing for Galaxy phones = better experience for millions of users. That’s a win for any social media company trying to grow engagement and content quality.
2. Dedicated Support Teams
Samsung could provide technical support, documentation, and direct developer collaboration (like Apple does with iOS devs) to help these apps integrate Galaxy camera APIs and optimize performance.
3. Co-Marketing & Exclusives
Samsung and social platforms could promote exclusive camera filters, Galaxy-only features, or special events tied to new phones — benefiting both brands with more visibility and excitement.
4. Early Access to Galaxy AI / Camera Features
Samsung is going all-in on AI. Giving social platforms early or exclusive access to advanced AI tools or camera tech could be a huge draw for innovation and user retention.
5. (Optional) Revenue-Sharing or Ad Integrations
If needed, Samsung could explore rev-share deals or offer integrations that benefit both sides financially — although I think the tech and user base are strong enough incentives on their own.
So yeah, Samsung could do more on the software side internally — but that’s not a reason to skip partnerships. If anything, it’s a reason to double down on them. Let the best at social media do what they do best, and let Samsung’s hardware shine through where it matters.
If Apple can do it, there’s no reason Samsung can’t, too.

They should give you a job at Samsung. You seem to know what we need. I use both iPhone 16PM and S24U (didn't see the need to upgrade to the s25u) Hopefully they read this post, So we can get all those benefits from our phones (since they are so expensive)

Hello,

Thank you again for the thoughtful and in-depth follow-up. You’ve clearly put a lot of time into analyzing not just the current situation, but also proposing realistic, well-structured solutions that could benefit both Samsung and the broader Galaxy community.

Your suggestions around collaboration strategies—especially the incentive structures and co-marketing opportunities—make a strong case for a deeper partnership approach with key social media platforms. You're absolutely right that Samsung’s strength lies in its hardware and ecosystem, and leveraging those strengths through smart partnerships could close the remaining experience gaps.

We really appreciate the way you've framed this—not just as a criticism, but as a forward-thinking vision for improvement. This kind of feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ll be sure to share it with the appropriate teams for further consideration.

Thanks again for being such a passionate and engaged member of the community!

And as always, thank you for sharing your genuine posts throughout the Beta program. We read/review/discuss every single post (not just "popular" or "widely discussed" posts" and every comment.

Best regards,
One UI Beta Team
