Please fix landscape mode! In the last couple of days I have received updates to my Samsung Android devices. Yesterday I opened Facebook on my Galaxy tab s9 and it came up in portrait mode. Realizing that I had just upgraded my device, I figured all I had to do was restore my preferred settings to restore Facebook to landscape mode. Imagin my surprise when even typing on my book cover keyboard, which will usually flip the screen to landscape mode, didn't work. As usual I spent an un-planned entire afternoon trying to fix this problem only to discover that apparently there is an incompatibility between the "Android" Facebook app and "Androids" One UI that prevents Facebook from being displayed in landscape mode, because the app is designed for mobil use only with a phone. Don't you think it's time to stop treating your excellent tablet devices like step children?! For sure it is impossible to police every single one of hundreds of Android apps, but lets be real, Facebook is one of the most widely used platforms on the internet! Don't you want your loyal customers - been using Samsung devices ever since I used to repair your monitors more than twenty years ago! I even prefer it to Windows, and don't get me started on apple! - to have the benefits of the full featured platform? Considering that you charged me nearly two hundred dollars for my keyboard what would it hurt for you to contact the developers of the Android version of the Facebook app and say, "Hey guys, it's in both our best interests to fix this. Let's get together and do it."?

You would need to contact the app developer to have them fix the issue. I know with Facebook it hasn't went into landscape for awhile now.

It's true that on it's own Facebook has not gone into landscape mode for quite a while, however, there is an option in Settings for Android devices that places portrait only apps into landscape mode. In the case of Facebook it even allowed it to be viewed in full screen, which isn't always the case. Since the last Samsung upgrade this no longer works. Regarding your comment about contacting Facebook, perhaps your right, if I'm going to ask Samsung to do their part to fix the problem I should at least try to contact Facebook with a similar request. I'll look into it but I suspect that in the end they'll just tell me to contact Samsung! When I was a desktop support technician I was expected to contact and work with dozens of vendors precisely for the pourpous of getting their software to work in the library environment that I worked in. But I did not ask the patrons of the library to contact those vendors because I knew that it was not their job; it was mine! In the same way, as a retired old man with failing eyesight and mental faculrties it is not my job to contact the providers of presumably Samsung compatible applications to make sure they work with their devices. By the way, don't leave Microsoft out of the equation; as the provider of the operating system that we used there were countless times that I contacted them to assist with making software work. So just because Android is "only" the operating system does not exclude them from an active role in making sure apps designed for use on their platform work!

There is a similar problem with Snapchat. Prior to One UI 7, I would go into Settings >Advanced features >Labs >Landscape view for portrait apps and select this mode for the Snapchat app and it worked perfectly. Now thought, setting Snapchat to use landscape view on my Tab S10 Plus causes the tablet to hang as Snapchat oscillates between portrait and landscape as it attempts to open on the screen forcing me to disable the landscape option and just use the app in portrait mode.
