Bookcover keyboard ef-dt970 suddenly not working

Hope someone can help me.  I use the Bookcover keyboard ef-dt970 with my samsung s7+ tablet 95% of the time.  All of a sudden it's not working correctly.  Some letters enter as multiple characters, others are working fine.  For example the letter a displays as "a`"   but e works fine.

Tried restarting tablet and wiping contacts.  No change.

Any suggestions.  Is it most likely the problem is the key board or the contacts on the tablet?

Things to try:

1. Soft Reset:  Hold down power and Vol down until the tablet resets and you see the Samsung logo appear

2. Boot to Safe mode to eliminate an app as the issue.

3 Clear cache partition

- If your device is powered on, turn it off completely

- Press and hold the Volume Up button and the Power key

- Once the logo shows, release both keys and wait until the device enters the recovery mode.

- Using the Volume Down key, highlight Wipe cache partition, and then press the Power key to select it.

- Highlight Yes, and press the Power key again.

- Navigate to Reboot and press the Power key to reboot your device.
