Brand New Samsung Galaxy Tab A7 Lite Randomly Freezing/shutting down

I just got this tablet less than a week ago, and it will randomly freeze or shut down if it's left alone for more than a few minutes. I have sent multiple logs to Samsung and they haven't gotten back. Does anybody have any idea what the causes can be?

The only other options i see at this point would be to send the device for service, or you can contact the eCommerce team to see about having it exchanged. Please let me know which option you would prefer.

Hopefully we can work to ease the inconveniences a bit.  Are you seeing any error messages before it shuts down by any chance?  Has it been doing this since the initial set up or did it start after installing an application?  Is it getting warm by any chance?

there is no warning whatsoever, the device will randomly stop recognizing the SD card. it has been doing this since setup. it doesn't feel hot when it does it as it does it most of the time when it's under no load.

Odd.  If you remove the SD card is it still behaving wonky?

I haven't tried that yet as I misplaced the little key you put in the hole to access the button that opens the tray

edit: I found it and will try without the SD card in the morning

same issue persists. if I set my tablet down it will stop recognizing the SD card on top of the other issues. it seems the tray design is the culprit, as a slot would be more efficient and effective

Could you try a factory reset and set the device up again? It may be something in the the initial startup sequence that did not load correctly.

I could, but I used smart switch so retrieving all my data again would be a pain as I sent my old tablet back as a trade in

I'd prefer service station but if there are none nearby I could try to get it exchanged
