Galaxy Tab S2 drains battery after recent update

The most recent software update to my Tab S2 has caused battery life to go from about 5-6 days to less than 2 days. I have turned off almost all background activities for the applications, and have removed almost all applications. The battery meter is useless as it shows only a few items (screen, google, wifi), and they all sum to a few percent (5%) but the battern is on a straight line downward. I believe this has to do with network scanning or some other behavior because it is location dependent (and airplane mode causes no draining). If I leave the tablet next to my wifi router at home it drains over night (about 50% of the battery), but if I have it at another locaiont it only drains a few percent. I live in an apartment building, so there are lots of WiFi networks around. The WiFi that it is connected to is very strong so I don't think that is the issue.

Hello userzH1hg1nV6Z, have you tried running it in Safe Mode to see if the symptom persists?

 

To run Safe Mode:

  1. Turn the device off.
  2. Press and hold the Power key.
  3. When Samsung appears on the screen, release the Power key.
  4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
  5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
  6. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode on the device.

Hi,

 

I have problem with my Galaxy S6 after the update too. 

 

My phone gets so hot that I cannot even hold it in hand! and this of course drain my battery massively.

 

Any help?

Let's try some troubleshooting steps for your Galaxy S6, just let us know how these go!

  1. Are all your Apps are up to date? You have 2 places that you need to look. Google Play store and Galaxy app store. Go to both and check My Apps. Make sure there is no app that needs updating. 
  2. Is your phone OS up to date? Go to Settings, About phone and check for software update. Make sure you have the latest phone software. 
  3. Clear phone cache. Instructions are here
  4. Restart your phone in Safe mode. This is just to help you isolate the issue if it is caused by 3rd part apps. Instructions are here

my name is Craig Celeste I did all that and my battery still drains and I had it on all night on my charger plugged in I mean and it's at 89% and I need a update to solve that problem so my phone can be charged a hundred percent alright thank you I'm very very angry and I was Samsung 4 so many years and this needs to be resolved or I'll change to an iPhone thank you my name is Craig Celeste and my email address is <Hidden> and I need this ASAP thank you

I have the Samsung Galaxy tab S 10 inch and since the last update my battery drains like crazy.  In the past I could close the cover and come back in 2-3 days and loss maybe 5-8% power.  Now its dead in 24 hours!!! while not being used!!  I was going to purchase a new samsung tablet for my kids and for myself.  I will no longer do that.  They were for christmass coming up.  I have seen this power issue online talked about for months - yet no resultion by anyone at Samsung.  So as I still sit and wait for a fix, you have lost three future sales and I have advised all my engineering co-workers to stay away from Samsung products, from battery issues to bad software updates.  Very dissapointing.

All the same problems.  Great battery life BEFORE the update.  Now, all I want to know is how to revert back to Marshmallow as it worked fine with minimal battery drain even in normal use.  Is it possible to revert back to a previous OS and if so, how?  Please feel free to reply to my email at <Hidden>.  Thanks in advance.  AJ

I am also having the same issue as everyone else. Great battery life before, now basically dead overnight while asleep. Odd thing is, this case is true when I'm at home but when away and connected to Wi-Fi, it lasts for 3-4 days...weird. Anyone else notice this?

My Tab A is hardly charging since the new update. After 9 hours of charging, it went from 33 percent to 46 now.
