Samsung DeX no longer works on tablet screen after One UI 7 update

Hello,

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra 5G.

After updating my device to One UI 7, I noticed that Samsung DeX no longer works on the tablet screen itself.

When I tap on DeX, it only shows “Connect wirelessly” and starts searching for external displays (TV / monitor).

There is no option like “Use DeX on tablet” or “Start DeX on tablet” anymore.

Samsung support told me that DeX for PC has been discontinued, but I am not asking about DeX for PC.

My question is specifically about running DeX directly on the tablet screen, without connecting to an external display.

My questions are:

Has Samsung officially removed DeX on the tablet screen in One UI 7?

If yes, is this permanent or will it return in a future update?

Is there any official workaround to use a desktop-like interface on the tablet screen now?

As I remember, my Tab S10 Plus still had on screen Dex working fine with One UI 7. It was One UI 8 that eliminated the ability to run Dex locally the tablet's screen. Very frustrating!

Go to settings, dex and then change the quick panel option to switch to desktop workspace. Mine worked fine after that and I'm on a Galaxy Tab S8 plus. Super frustrating that it was hidden that way. Hopefully you still have the option as well.
