Samsung keyboard personalized predictions have vanished

Two or three days ago, I noticed that the predictive text on the Samsung keyboard no longer seems to be personalized to my usage. IE, there are several uncommon names that I frequently type that used to come up after two or three of the first letters, now I have to type them out completely. The same thing happened about a week or so ago, but only lasted a few hours before it was back to normal.

Samsung keyboard is up to date and I've cleared the cache, but this didn't help. Is there any way to get my old predictions back or am I going to have to restart from square one?

I am on Galaxy Tab S6 lite.

Thanks. I actually ended up fixing it myself by accident. I switched to another keyboard I had installed on my tablet and then switched back to the Samsung keyboard, and that fixed it. Bizarre.

Restart from square one is my guess. However, it doesn't mean you can't make your own equivalent; it's called "text shortcuts".

On your keyboard toolbar, if it currently has the predicted/suggested word listing, click the left arrow button on the left. Then click the settings gear icon. Click on "Text shortcuts" and the the plus button. 'Shortcut' should be a simple (preferably uncommon) alphanumeric combination (for example the first few letters of the names before the old prediction offered the correct name). 'Expanded phrase' would be the name you want inserted, and as the label suggests, this feature is not limited to just words.

BTW, another way to your keyboard settings is through phone Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings.

The next time you type in your specified shortcut, the Expanded phrase you had set will show up as a the first word in the prediction list in color (for me it's blue). Phrases or sentences would be abbreviated to just the first word. If your Shortcut happens to be a word or abbreviation you actually want to use, there is a checkmark icon before the first word that you can click to ignore the shortcut. (Note that if you have auto correction enabled, it works in the same way as the text shortcuts when you are typing -- the colored word, etc, etc.)

Oh, I forgot to mention, "Text shortcuts" is unable to recognize enter/next-line as a character. If the phrase you want to create a shortcut to involves multiple lines, it is best to compose the phrase in some app like Samsung Notes, then cut-&-paste it into "Text shortcuts".
