Samsung tablet A11 plus not fully charging

Brand new tablet. When I plug it in to charge, the screen stays on so it doesn't charge fully. I have tried multiple ways to fix but nothing works. How do I cut the screen off when charging?

@rodhal Having the screen on shouldn't prevent the tablet from charging fully. 

Go to Tablet settings -> Device care -> Battery and see if Battery protection is enabled. 

If you want the screen to be off, just single click the side button.

Sounds like the battery protection mode is on, which won't allow the device to charge up past 80%.
You need to disable it in the Battery 🔋 section of your settings which will allow the device to fully charge to 100%.
