TabletsI would let the battery die, then charge it and follow the procedure to boot to recovery mode to factory reset. I am unsure if the procedure is the same for tablets as it is for phones. On phones, to force a reboot without a password, one would simultaneously hold the power and volume down keys. This will reboot it, but you have to be really quick to switch to the volume up key when the Samsung logo appears in order to enter recovery mode. Letting the battery die is simpler.

TabletsAre you holding both buttons together the whole time? You have to press them at the exact same time and hold them both. Also, make sure you are using the volume DOWN button. Volume up is for when you restart the device - you hold the power and volume up button until the logo appears on screen. As I said, easier to let the battery die.
