I've been a Samsung user since the Galaxy S1, I've had the S5e, S6, S7, S7+, S8U, and am now looking at the Tab S9 alongside the 11 inch iPad Pro. When it comes to using the tablets as a laptop replacement, be it in a pinch or all of the time, the Tab S9 is just better.

Having the ability to install a browser that can use any Chrome Extension (Kiwi Browser), expand my storage, remove the keyboard to use just the tablet, just drawing, and using Second Screen are amazing.

From using both side-by-side, my biggest takeways are this:

The speaker are both great (about equal).

The pen feels better on the Tab S9.

The screen is better on the S9.

The keyboard case on the S9 is more versatile.

Autocorrect on the S9 keyboard is trash.

Trying to use an iPad as a laptop replacement is like trying to clap with a hand tied behind your back, you could technically do it, but you'll feel stupid.

Face ID is amazing.

The iPad does tablet things better than the S9, everything is a bit smoother, gestures are a bit more intuitive, the apps are formatted better, and the weight is balanced a bit better.

I'm keeping the S9, because I cannot stand how web browsing works on the iPad, and I'm just an Android tablet ride or die person, I need the flexibility. Looking at getting Linux running in a VM with Termux ATM, can't wait.

For what I use my tablet for, mostly media consumption, the Tab S9+ is hands down better than my Ipad pro. I traded in my Ipad pro for it.

It's interesting that you feel that the apps are better formatted for the iPad. Perhaps it depends on which apps you use. I have a 5th Gen iPad Air, along with my Tab S9+, and I am disappointed with how many apps seem to be poorly formatted for the iPad. I expected the Apple experience to be better than that. Instead I feel the S9 is just a better tablet and device for anyone not locked in to the Apple ecosystem.
