setting up fixed IP address

Hello,

I have a galexy Tab A tablet running Android V 6.0.1. I have a USB to ethernet dongle that I am attempting to configure for a local private network(fixed IP). There is NO outside internet connection by choice. I want to "talk" with some custom hardware.

Specifically, Here are my numbers:

IP Address: 192.168.12.45

Net mask: 255.255.255.0

DNS Address :???

Default Router:???

I am unsure what to place in those fields(???). I am unable to "save" the configuration unless I have something in those fields.

The custom hardware I want to talk to is at addresses 192.168.12.9, 192.168.12.10, 192.168.12.11.

I can ping and communicate with the hardware using my win PC which is setup as:

IP address: 192.168.12.100

Net mask: 255.255.255.0

In the win 7 case the default gateway and DNS server fields are blank.

Can anyone suggest how to fill in the DNS address and Default router fields?

Thanks!

Re: setting up fixed IP address

The settings you are looking for would be provided by your network administrator, or the internet service provider.

Re: setting up fixed IP address

Hello,

As stated in my inital posting, there is no "internet service provider" or "network administrator" in this circumstance. The network consists of:

1) Samsung galaxy Tab A connected to a USB to Ethernet adapter(IP address 192.168.12.45)

2) Netgear Ethernet switch FS105

3) Custom device #1 at IP address 192.168.12.9

4) Custom device #2 at IP address 192.168.12.10

The question remains: What settings do i use for:

DNS Address :???

Default Router:???

I do NOT want to connect to "the internet", just the devices shown above.

Thanks
