Notifications on smart things app

How do I get my appliances to notify me when they need maintenance?

Right now my dishwasher and clothes washer need cleaning cycles run. I wouldn't have known without actually checking the SmartThings app.

@NPhillips67 The dishwasher has a cleaning cycle icon on the control panel which lights up when a cleaning cycle is due. The icon blinks when it is getting close to needing the cleaning cycle.
