I just bought my new washer WW90DB7U94GBU1 and i'm having an intermittent problem of the door lock not being released until I power off the machine which causes the door lock to be released immediately.
There isn't any water left in the drum when I do this and smarthings isn't connected (as I know this can hold the lock).
The example this morning was that I had a delay end cycle finishing at 6:30 and I got a reminder through the app at 7:00 that I should 'remove my laundry now' - I went down to the washer to find the door locked. I had to, again, turn the washer off via the button which allowed me to retrieve my washing.
I've emptied out the filter and as expected it was clear (as i've had the washer less than a month).
Samsung support came out and changed the board - apparently programmed incorrectly at the factory. Was told this would be reported back and resolved with an OTA update for anyone else who has the same issue.
EDIT: Ok, this isn't the solution... the ACTUAL cause of this issue is the Extra Care function in SmartThings. I re-enabled this after the work was done and got the SAME ISSUE.
This option, when enabled, is supposed to give Unemptied laundry alerts etc but it also has the unwanted side effect of keeping the door locked post cycle until this option is toggled off
Ridiculous that i've had to go through multiple service calls and a service visit only to find this is poor software that nobody at Samsung knows about.
Interestingly, on the last cycle I didn't get to the washing machine for a while - the smartthings app notified me to remove the washing or run the rinse and spin cycle - I clicked apply on this and the door unlocked immediately.
There's something weird going on that nobody, including support, can seem to answer!
