I can not tell you exactly how old are unit is...my guess is 3 years old. Not long after we got it we started noticing brown streaks on 1 or 2 pieces of clothing, probably ever 5 or 6 loads. It did not seem to be that big of deal and we thought it was due to something the kids left in their pockets. We run the cleaning cycle every month. This does not seem to improve the streaks.
Over time, this has gotten worse. We recently were away for two weeks. Before we left we ran the clean cycle. The first time we ran the washing machine, upon return, our entire load of laundry was covered in brown streaks and tiny brown chunks. I have no idea what this is, but looking at the Samsung forums, other people are having the same issue.
This is a bad situation. We have checked the drain, checked the inside of the tub, checked the door gasket and we can not see anywhere there is brown gunk. We tried a 2nd load with just old towels and it was just as bad. We have no way to wash clothes until this gets resovled.
I can’t take it anymore! I like the washer and I’ve tried to “deal” with this mold issue, but enough is enough. It doesn’t matter how many times I clean it or how many times I run the self clean setting, the mold doesn’t go away!
I have had this same issue since I bought the washer in 2015. I have used nothing but HE detergent, I run the clean cycle all the time. I had Samsung send someone out one time and they replaced the Tub cover and that did nothing. When I finish a load of laundry I use 4 paper towels to wipe down my machine, it's disqusting and nothing is being done about it. There should be a recall on this.
I also have a washer Model# WA45H7000AW/A2 that is just about 6 years old and also have the brown soft dirt/ residue at the bottom of my washer. I have run the self-clean many times and also ran the spin/rinse setting right after the self clean. So what is the solution to getting rid of the brown residue; beside getting a new washer or completely tearing the washer apart and throughly cleaning all of the parts.
I am having the brown residue in my washer as well. I have seen it in the past and thought it was just something on my kids clothes! Reading these posts it looks like it’s mold! I have ran 4 self clean cycles and it hasn’t gotten any better. Were you able to get Samsung to help with the problem??
