Re: Disgusting residue in washer

JUMP TO SOLUTION

Subcontracted techs came to fix my washer two weeks ago.  Took it apart.  It was disgustingly foul what they found underneath.  Could not clean or fix and decided they had to replace the entire drum and interior of washer.  Basically, only the original shell and motherboard will remain.  So they had to order parts and sent a tech last Saturday to replace.  I spent my entire Saturdat waiting.  He arrived.  Didn't have proper tools to take apart.  Had to reschedule for today so I had to take a full day off from work. Apparently, he entered wrong date (8/29 instead of 8/28).  So here I am, not at work, and my washer is not getting fixed.  Had to reschedule again for Saturday.

Will let you know how it goes.  I suspect it will be fine for a number of months and then the same thing will happen again since it is an engineering problem.

There should really be a recall at this point or  class action suit.  Any takers?

And who is paying for all those repairs? Considering that there are many complaints of this same thing tells me a recall needs to be issued. They’re going to have a law suit on their hands when someone gets sick.

Brown Flakes/Residue in Top Load Washer - SOLVED

JUMP TO SOLUTION

I came across this issue like so many others and I was able to solve it. Perhaps this will be beneficial to others. I ran many self cleans but it did not work. Also ran a couple of bleach cycles, then some vinegar cycles. The brown flakes still appeared but the unit seemed cleaner and there was less residue. Finally I took off the pulsator, cleaned underneath and also cleaned the pulsator. I realized most of the residue was coming from inside the pulsator, which I was unable to clean out. In an effort to switch out the pulsator, I ordered the new part that corresponded with my unit's model number (it's called an assy pulsator) from an online appliance part store for about $100. I installed the new pulsator and I no longer have this residue in the wash cycle.

Same thing is happening to me. It’s disgusting and washer is not even 3 yrs old. I called Samsung and they want me to pay someone to come look at it and fix it.  Thanks for your help 😡😡They should pay for this. Especially since we have already paid a technician to come out and tell us our washer is just dirty🙄never will I ever buy a Samsung product again. Attaching pic of the filth our clothes are washing in.

UPDATE: through this website and my complaint samsung had a company come out and fix the issue. at first they just changed the pulsator with no change in debris and then they had to replace the entire basket which includes the part under the pulsator. The problem is finally resolved, but even the tech said that it will happen again as its a known issue on these machines and to do a self clean at least once a month to slow it down (We do, and have been since we got the washer three years ago)but yeah...fixed for now at no cost to us.

Just found this forum and I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem. The pulsator is awful, what a terrible design flaw. My husband removed the piece and took it apart, you can see what we found.  I run the self clean cycle often and never leave the top closed after washing. Now I'm wondering: how long have I been washing my children's clothes in moldy water? And when is Samsung going to fix this obvious issue?Screenshot_20190903-092839.pngAbsolutely disgusting.
