That's not the "problem" all of us are having. The problem is that the ice melts in the ice tray and runs out into the ch*te or, in my case, will sometimes miss the ch*te and run down the inside of the refrigerator and into the freezer and/or onto my wood floors. I have to keep a rag under the corners of the fridge to keep this d@mn thing from hurting my floors. Then other times everything in there freezes into a big blob.   Samsung doesn't have a clue what's wrong with it. That's the real problem here. Like others, I'm willing to pay to have this fixed but they don't know how to fix it. There are some people in this thread who've had ever component of the ice maker replaced and it still does it. It is unsanitary because it grows mold in all the seals and the ice ch*te (which I don't even use any more because I would get mold floating around in my drinks no matter how many times I clean it) and if I miss it leaking onto my floor it will damage my floor.   I want to buy a new refrigerator (and it WON'T be a Samsung, that I can assure you) and throw this thing in the trash but that seems so wasteful because the rest of the unit is fine. It really kills me knowing all the trouble I went through not to use the builder's "cheapo" appliances and get what was supposed to be better stuff and everything but the dish washer and clothes dryer has had something go wrong with it. This is what I'm after becase at this point, it is what it is that this is happening.  I just want it fixed but I'm not paying for someone to come out and keep throwing parts at it that won't fix it.  I'm tired of my refrigerator growing black and orange mold/mildew because of the melting ice.  I'm tired of pulling the ice tray out to get ice by hand because it's the only way not to back black stuff in my drink (yes, I do clean it but it only lasts about a week and then it's back).  They still use what appears to be the same ice maker design in the current model refrigerators so either those are all going to eventually have this problem or they've fixed them so the fix needs to be applied to the older units as well if that's the case.  I was going to post pictures of the orange growing in my refrigerator but there are no attachments allowed on this forum. ... You're not going to get answers to any of those questions.  That's part of the problem, I'm not sure Samsung knows what the problem is.  They just want to refer to a service tech but I would say at least 3/4 of the people still have the problem.  If I was still under warranty, I'd let them come look at it as much as they want.  I'm out of warranty and I'm not playing guessing games with my money.  I'm willing to spend money to fix this because it is HIGHLY UNSANITARY but someone needs to guarantee the fix.  I work on cars for a living and if I get my diagnosis wrong, I'm expected to work for free but not Samsung.  They want to keep charging to throw parts at it and not actually diagnose the problem.  I can throw parts at it myself for a lot cheaper.   I try not to think about it because it pisses me off to even think how excited I was to buy Samsung appliances since I've loved their TV's for years and now I have to pull the ice tray out of my 3 year old refrigerator to get ice without getting black stuff in my drinks.  This is bull.  Oh, and when I pull said ice tray out I get water dripping all over my clothes and my wood floors!  ... So is there an actual fix for this or is it just to throw parts at it?  Mine started doing this maybe 6 months after the warranty expired and has been slowly getting worse.  Water will collect in the door and cause mold/mildew that will eventually start getting knocked off by the ice into my cup... This is completely rediculous.  This is NOT sanitary.  Sometimes the water will freeze up on the bottom of the ice maker and stop ice production until I knock it all off.  Sometimes it leaks so much water it runs down the door and leaks out and ends up on my new wood floor.  I bought these appliances because I love my Samsung TVs and they've been very reliable but clearly the appliances are not as well built at the TVs.  I'm not one to act like I shouldn't have to pay for repairs outside of warranty but this is clearly a design flaw from the start and based on the fact that I am getting mold and mildew IN MY DRINKS, Samsung really needs to step up and actually offer a real fix for this concern. ...
