This link might be helpful in trying to fix your icemaker https://www.scribd.com/document/332005575/Samsung-FDBM-Refrigerator-Ice-Maker-Bulletin-1-0-0 There are numerous issues outlined in the bulletin which can cause icemaker issues. Got it from Amazon...here's the link https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005SI8YZC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 After defrosting especially above the fan at the top of the auger assy the ice maker would work about a month before acting up again. I recently went through the bulletin mentioned above and found most of the items were issues with my icemaker. Don't expect much help from the manufacturer, but there is a class action lawsuit in progress for icemaker problems. If you search on Samsung Icemaker Lawsuit you can probably find the info.

The upper ice maker on the model listed above forms ice above the fan in the auger assembly. When this happens the ice maker area doesn't get enough air circulation to keep it cold enough. Result is soft ice and often ice maker stops making ice. The ice maker and auger assy (has heated drain tube) have been replaced. The gaps around the ice maker area have been sealed. I have defrosted this area numerous times and it is fine for a maximum of 3 weeks. I have ordered the clips that go on the refrigerant tubes. What else can I do to prevent the ice build up above the fan?
