I don't get a notification sound when i am receiving a message/sms from a sender and our message/chat window is still open. I get a sound though when our message/chat window is closed. S21 brand new. Last Galaxy was S8. did this as well. Had Google pixel last 2 yrs. Do get sound notification when window is open. I downloaded google text message, and resolved the issue. But there some reasons i prefer to use Samsung text app. Can i resolve this issue on the samsung app?

I have no idea what this previous answer is talking about, but i will try that advice. I have the same issue and always have. I've been w the Galaxy a loooong time, back to the S6. most recent is S21, and STILL same bs. I toke a break the last 2 yrs, and tried the google pixel. guess what, doesn't do this. you can have the text message open, AND get sound notification. I called Samsung the other day, and the guy thought i was nuts. or making this up. I do have everything turned on. case in pt, i DO get sound notifications, but i have to have the text message closed.

just bought s21. doesn't sound notification if text message is open. must have closed. Had google pixel phone last 2 yrs. Didn't have this issue. Was w samsung b4 then, last was S8. same problem. I called samsun recently, act like i'm nuts. stuff all over internet about this. carrier is xfinity, verizon b4 that. if you download google text message app you won't have this problem.
