Unfortunately the purpose of sending a private message seems pointless, they will simply say sorry you need to pay for a technician to come see your fridge.  I think it is more to stop people from posting their problems on a public forum.   As previously mentioned, it is rather unfortunate that Samsung is not stepping up and acknowledging these issues when they are clearly factory defects affecting thousands and thousands of customers.  This forum is a tiny sample size of the real issues most people are having with this ice maker that either just deal with it, or have already paid hundreds of dollars to have the problem return, or have simply stopped using the ice maker all together.   ... Same issues I have had, I have experienced the wet slushy ice, which then stops and turns into a frozen tray, chip off the ice/defrost and get a month of relief only to start over again. ... View more

Not sure why I was asked to send a private message, literally the response was we will not help you, you can pay for a tech to come look at the problem (which we already know has been unsuccessful fixing this issue).   It is quite unfortunate that a known factory defective part is being ignored by Samsung, this seems to be a rather wide spread issue and I cannot imagine how many people are going through this same problem yet have not voiced thier problems, have paid for techs, etc.     ... There really should be a recall, it is clear that this is a major design flaw that is affecting most if not all of these fridges.   Its a shame really as I own and have owned many Samsung products typically without issues  ... View more

I have had my Samsung fridge a little over 2 years and am experiencing the same problems many are reporting in this thread.  It seems to go in waves of working, then I get the water leaking from the flapper, then the ice builds up on the bottom of the tray which I have to chip off.  It has been a frustrating past 3-4 months dealing with this issue.  I am really not interested in paying a tech to come to my house when I know the problem has not been resolved so that is throwing away money.   There is clearly a manufacturing defect with the ice maker assemblies, the fact that Samsung is not willing to stand by their products is a bit concernign given this is a wide spread commen issue.    I also have a Samsung gas range which thankfully I can report so far has been amazing, the fridge however I regret my purchase.   Hoping one day Samsung will step up and fix these problems  ...
