I was about to pump money into the galaxy watch before learning that Samsung took away MST. Now am thinking of just getting the predecessor more feature rich galaxy gear s3. Is there any news about the next galaxy watch and if samsung is bringing back MST?, just saw the new galaxy active2 but it's just Samsung pay NFC, underwhelming.

Something that appears to have worked for me: when I received the "stay connected to phone" error with my Amex recently on my Galaxy watch (as most everyone who's commented here has), and my other cards were not giving that error (also a common experience), I removed the card from my phone, and attempted to add it back. When I selected "Add Card" on the watch, it referred me to my phone to complete, but nothing happened on my phone. So on my phone (Galaxy S10), I swiped from the top, and it showed that my watch in the connected items right under Smarthings (which would make you believe that the watch and phone are connected). When I tapped on the Galaxy Watch on the phone under SmarthThings, it said that an update was pending that needed to be applied before I could open the watch app on the phone. I tapped the update, which took about 2 min to apply, THEN the Samsung Pay app opened up on my phone that I initially triggered from my watch. I went ahead and reloaded the Amex card I had earlier deleted and it's again working fine.
My point of this is that though Galaxy watch appeared to be connected to my phone in terms of other functionality, there was a level of connectivity that was suspended due to this non-obvious pending update that I discovered when I tapped on the watch when I swiped down from the top of the phone. That may well be the root cause when we see this "Stay connected to Phone" error pop up for our Amex (or other cards). I'd suggest starting here to see if a pending watch update is there and if applying it remedies that error.
