So I've been through the whole gamut of repairs that I've done myself for the ice maker in our french door refrigerator. The ice maker has been replaced and all repairs listed in the 2017 service bulletin have been done. Still, this thing keeps freezing up / frosting over, requiring a manual defrost every 1 - 2 months. Today I finally decided to test the auger motor fan, which blows cold air through a narrow opening into the ice maker compartment. That area has always been the source of the ice, and today I confirmed that the fan itself indeed does work. I tested two ways - with a 9V battery, I hooked up two low voltage wires to the red / black pins on the fan connector, and confirmed it was operational. Then I plugged it into the auger wiring harness, and again confirmed operation through the small blue / small black wire pins. So the fan 100% is in working order, and the wiring is as well. Now the interesting part - put the auger housing back into the refrigerator, plug it in, and guess what - NO FAN! It is inoperative. In fact, after putting the entire ice maker assembly back in, plugging everything in, restarting the fridge, setting power cool, all the debug modes, you name it - nothing causes that fan to start spinning! So that's where I'm at... I have no idea what the problem could be now. Could be the control board? Could be a temperature sensor, or other sensor? All I know is that this thing has been problematic from day one. I hope someone from Samsung replies with a way forward!
