You didn't need the update to get it. My A71 is still on Android 10 and UI 2.5 and I have it as well. Much better than what they had before

Put Edge panels and edge lighting on and then close out. No need to tap the 3 dots. Reboot your phone and you should see a little hump on the side of the screen that you slide out.
