If you're asking if the availability of the update is affected by whether you are on Wifi or not, the U1 model is a Samsung Factory unlocked model that works with all carriers. The fact Verizon is your carrier is completely irrelevant to the update as your updates come direct from Samsung no matter what carrier you are on. The update packages are large so unless you have unlimited data, do it over wifi.

@Rob7904 Your reply is missing info bro. "Commens in the post just below this one" OOOKAAAY. Where? No update here yet, unlocked S20+. SM-G986U1. Kind of frustrating. Seems like we are the last in line as I believe all the carrier-specific variants have been updated. I think this is typical though. I've heard reports in last three days of unlocked versions getting the update. I'm curious how many days do they typically spread the rollout over for a specific line S20/+/Ultra. My gut is telling me it will be coming sometime in the next 3-7 days.

It is a little bizarre the factory unlocked models that get their updates straight from Samsung would lag carrier updates. Maybe someone who has a history of using Samsung Factory Unlocked models can chime in on the average delay between the carrier-based updates and the updates directly from Samsung.

Are you referring to a carrier unlocked model or a factory unlocked model? Many people don't understand the difference. Samsung sells factory unlocked models (models ending in U or U1 I believe) that work on all carriers, don't show the carrier logo when you boot the phone or come with the carrier's bloatware. Then there are carrier specific phones that can be locked or unlocked by that carrier. A factory unlocked model, correct me if I'm wrong, does NOT get it's update from the carrier. It gets its updates directly from Samsung. So if you have a factory unlocked model number ending in U or U1, it doesn't matter what carrier you use as far as when you get the update.

So then right now the question becomes how to you get into the One UI Beta program? Also read this and you may be a lot less anxious to get Verizons essentially phony "Nationwide 5G" The things these carriers will market to push people to feel the need to upgrade their phones. Bottom line is where probably at least a year or two off of getting any real significant speed benefits from 5G in 99.5% of the country. https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2020/09/08/5g-speed/
