As I asked in another thread near this one, I wonder if the exercises that are pre-defined use heart rate info, vs. the "Other" category using a base average number of calories using your height/weight/bmr, etc. Apple does this, if you use a pre-defined exercise, it is based upon your heart rate, but if you choose "Other", it uses the average. I've used the Weight Machines exercise in the Active 2, and the calorie burn is near the Apple Watch for the same activity, for the approximately same amount of time.

I've been reading this, along with the other thread that is showing perceived problems with the calorie count on the Watches, both Active, and Active 2. I suspect, that like the Apple Watch, that the defined exercise categories do have a set calorie burn rate, but if you go "off grid" and choose "Other" they use a set calorie burn rate. Apple does this, and many use that fact to circumvent the Apple "required" 30 minute per day exercise activity to "close the exercise ring". If you choose the "other" category, rather than walk, run, bike, etc, the Apple watch estimates calorie burn from the time spent in the activity, rather than the heart rate. Choosing the actual activity, requires you to reach a heart rate of "a brisk walk", but no one says what that heart rate is. So, I would ask that when people say the calorie burn is "off" please let us know if you're using a preset exercise, ie. walk, run, bike ride, etc, or if you're using "other" because your specific activity isn't listed. I've used the "Weight Machines" category, and the numbers are pretty close to those of the Apple Watch for the same or nearly the same time period.

Not really what I wanted, but the reset you described did delete the contents of the watch. The problem is now pretty much solved with my decision to go with the Watch 3.

I can see that there's one thing that is completely missed with this problem. The absence of the ECG feature is not entirely Samsung's fault. The actual fault lies with the various governments that are hopelessly slow in approving these features. Seems that in the US, that unless it puts money in someone's pocket, any requests move to the bottom of the pile. Apple had the same problem, and probably will with the rumored SpO2 feature that may be coming in the AW6. Personally, unless you have a genuine AFIB problem, the ECG feature is nothing more than a "Hey Y'all come see what my watch can do" feature. The fall detection, with automagic notification of emergency contacts has a much more valid use in real life, especially with the elderly people like myself. Trust me, I have both an AW 4, and iPhone 11 Pro, and I'm selling both for the S20 Plus and Watch 3. I have the Active 2 now, but I like the looks of the new watch, plus the added memory is a plus. Please, don't be so quick to blame the company for your own country's tardiness in approving a feature that Samsung in all honesty wanted to have on their watch, after all, it is a perk in their hat to have such a feature.

Another thing, the Fossil app is "wear", and the Samsung watch runs on the Tizen OS. Unless your City Mapper app has a Tizen based companion, it won't show on your watch. Might want to check with the authors of City Mapper to check to make sure the app is even available.

For those who like myself are interested in the health watching features ie. ECG, Blood Oxygen, VO2Max, and the running dynamics that was so proudly presented at the Unveiling event, I have a bit of (bad) news. These items won't be available at launch, but "will be coming in quarter 3" through a software update. For me, this is just a tad too familiar, I'm still waiting for the promised "quarter 3 release" of the ECG on my Active 2. So, just a warning, please, people, realize the history, and don't be belly-aching in 4 months when none of these features are forthcoming, but watch for them on the unveiling on the new "Galaxy Watch Active 4".....

Using Fitness Syncher, you can export your data to other platforms, and Runalyze will give monthly (or weekly) totals for various activities. Others may, Strava, Garmin Connect, etc, but I like Runalyze. Native export to Runalyze? I'm not sure. I think the ony thing that Samsung health exports is a link.

I believe what you are describing is a connector for the factory to flash parts of the ROM that you can't get to, do analysis, and troubleshooting. All (AFIK) have one, the Apple's is inside the band connector, and is really tiny. Special tools/connectors are needed to connect.

Okay, a little background is probably in order here. I purchased the watch used, and later found that the IEMI was blocked. The seller is long gone. My Bad. However, because I don't intend to use the LTE part of the watch, I decided to pair it up, and use it. So, I did a complete reset of the watch as described above. I also restored it from an earlier backup as I was going to sell the watch, but found that it was locked, so pulled it off the market. So, I have this Factory Reset (as above) watch, and I restored from the backup. I had the same problems earlier, and that's why I sold the S20+ and tried to sell the watch. I've since bought another S20+ and would really like to address this problem, so I was trying to insure a COMPLETE clearing of everything in the watch, (I know the IEMI won't reset, once again, not a problem), to see exactly why the data from MFP will make it to the watch, but not the phone. Hope this helps, perhaps my next step is to once again do the factory reset as above, and simply start as new, and not restore from the backup.

I've been having problems with the watch/phone (Active 2, Galaxy S20 Plus) talking to each other in My Fitness Pal, odd thing is that the data in MFP is going to the watch, but not to the phone. Even when the phone and watch "sync". At any rate, I decided to bite the bullet and do a "Master Reset" with the Hardware Keys, (holding down power until rebooting appears, etc). Followed this 3 times, and still comes up with my data, settings, watch faces, etc. Shouldn't this combination reset the watch completely so that when it finally boots it's coming up to the "lets get started" screen? Any help would be appreciated, as I really do like the S20+ more than the iPhone 11 Pro, but this one thing has me puzzled.

I'm seeing an off color balance with my Galaxy S20 Plus. Seems the shots are on the "green-yellow" side of the spectrum compared to the Apple 11 Pro photo, taken the same time, same night, same shot. Both were using "Night Mode", and were hand held. The Samsung exposed for what appeared to be 10 seconds, (or 10 on the little dial at the bottom of the page), the Apple was 3 seconds on it's dial. Don't worry about the shakeyness, although the Apple does appear to be sharper. What can I do to correct this color balance within camera? Any ideas?

Dude, first off, the "Galaxy S3" isn't even a real product? While the Samsung watches may have some issues, none are a deal breaker, but having owned virtually every "fitness watch/smartwatch" out there, I can say that the Samsungs are no better, or worse than any of them, and that includes Apple Watches series 2, 3, 4, Garmin Forunners 945 910, Fenix 3, 5, 5+, 6, and 6 Pro, Suunto's Ambit 2, and 3, Spartan, Spartan Sport, Sparton Sport Wrist HR Bar, and other "Wear" watches that was so long ago I can't remember. <edit>

+1 for the SpO2 addition, to either the Active 2, or the new Galaxy watch. This is especially important in the assessment, and discovery of the Covid-19 virus, as it will show immediately as a lowering of the amount of Oxygen in the blood due to lung function degradation.

Why not get the watch replaced under warranty? Don't pay for something that should be Samsung's problem, if their QC is that bad, they need to a) be aware of it, and b) own their mistakes.

Well, I can say from experience that unless you have AFIB, or other heart problems, the ECG "feature" once you've played with it for a few times, is nothing more than a "Hey! Y'All come see what my watch can do" type thing. I have an Apple Watch, along with the Active 2, and am currently trying to decide which setup (iPhone 11 Pro/Apple Watch vs. Samsung S20 Plus/Active 2) I want to keep. I am actually more interested in the fall detection, and notification of emergency services (My Active 2 is LTE) than the ECG, as I don't have any known heart problems. I've been trying to get info on when/if the fall detection will ever be introduced, as well as the question of will I be able to contact emergency services if the need arises, even though I don't have the watch assigned to a carrier. I know the Apple watch will do that, and not only contact emergency services (and my emergency contacts) with my "SOS", and location in coords, but for the emergency services it will also provide my medical info, allergies, blood type, etc. That's a big thing for someone over 70 like myself. Good luck with your update, I'm about done trying to get any type of information out of Samsung, they're tighter than "Tillie's tush" and quite frankly, I'm tired of waiting. The Series 6 Apple watch purports to have not only the features Samsung promises but can't deliver, but Blood Oxygen content, and there's even rumors of Blood Sugar being able to be measured from the blood flow. To me, that's innovation.

WOW, I find it hard to believe that in all of the people that are using the Active 2, none have even thought of this question. Further, I find it even more difficult to believe that those "moderators", ie. "samsungjim, samsung fluffy, or samsungwhoever" have no answer to a very simple question. One that could easily be tested, IF and only IF Samsung spoke truthfully about the inclusion of fall detection in their watch. Whoever has connections with Samsung that may see this, this is really not the way to win customers, a simple reply of "we don't know", or "it's not been fully tested" will perhaps not answer the question directly, but at least give one customer (ME) the knowledge that I do exist, and Samsung is aware that I actually spent money for one of their devices. I find it hard to believe that after posting the same question on the FACEBOOK group, I received two replies, none solving the problem, but at least I know I'm alive, and there are actual carbon based lifeforms reading the posts there. THanks for nothing (yet), Samsung, remember, a customer is not just someone who purchases your product, but you must also insure retention of that customer. Ask Packard Bell how that worked out for them.

I've seen rumors that Apple is indeed working on an "on the watch" blood glucose monitoring app, I don't know how it works, but the rumors state that they can tell by the blood under the sensors whether or not the glucose level is high or low, or whatever. Like I said, it doesn't really interest me, as I'm not diabetic, but you can do a search over in the Apple forums, and you'll see a couple of threads about it. I was just thinking, that perhaps if Samsung spent more time developing maturity into it's current products, rather than introducing a plethora of new products, they might build a better product. Albeit a smaller selection, but a much larger quality spread.

I'm not a Dexcom user, but I am a 72 year old man who is deeply concerned about falling, especially if I crash on my bike when I'm out for a ride. I've been waiting patiently for the promised "Fall Detection" for almost a year now, and still nothing. I've asked repeatedly if the Samsung Active 2 (or whatever it's successor will be) will automatically dial 911 (emergency services in the US) if the watch is not connected to a carrier. Nothing, I'm hesitant to check myself, as they don't enjoy "test" calls at those emergency centers. I've also asked if the promised "fall detection" will automatically call the emergency services, like the Apple Watch will do. Even if not connected to a carrier, even if not connected to the phone. I'll wait for a bit longer, but right now, I'm evaluating both an Apple Watch series 4, (to be upgraded to a series 6, if I decide to stay with Apple), paired with an iPhone 11 Pro, and comparing that setup with a Galaxy S20 Plus, and the Active 2. Right now, because of the one question that no one seems to be able to answer, the Apple is on my wrist. Pretty soon, the void in communication will result in a very nice, mint condition S20 Plus going up on Swappa.com

I have looked high and low, and cannot seem to find the answer to this question, so I will give this forum a try. Attempts to contact and inquire from Samsung Tech Support has met with no response, hopefully someone here can answer. If I have an Active 2 watch, the LTE version, but it's not associated with a carrier, (I use TracFone), and am away from my phone, can I use the watch to contact emergency services. Period. Very simple question. Possible scenarios would includ perhaps at a park for a walk, phone is in the car. I fall, have a heart attack, whatever emergency that might arise. Can I get 911 (in USA) on the watch. The reasoning behind this, is that I'm looking at the fall alerts function that was promised upon the release of the Active 2, but yet hasn't been implemented. The natural continuation is that if the watch detects a fall, will it automatically dial 911 if I don't respond? Can anyone offer any insight/experience with this?

I too wonder about Samsung's "update" procedure. I've got about 3 updates to my Apple watch, mostly security updates, and absolutely nothing from Samsung other than the very first update when I got the watch way back in January. I keep seeing/hearing about updates, but nothing ever is acknowledged by my watch. Oddly enough, my software ends in ASI1. Why so many different versions?
