I have reported this problem in another post ... it appears this is a widespead problem. I tried everything suggested, including clearing the system partition cache. Nothing works, camera still freezes. Samsung support has requested that I do a master (factory) reset. I'm wondering is anyone has done this, and, if so, did it resolve the problem?

@SamsungMichelle I have not experienced any problems with the camera after clearing the system partition cache using the proceedure described previously. Used my Note 9 to take both photos and video at my granddaughter's soccer match and it worked flawlessly. Hope it works long-term.

Did all this ... also, wiped system cache partition. Here's how: Turn off the device. Press and hold the Volume Up key and the Bixby key, then press and hold the Power key. When the Android logo displays, release all three keys. An ‘Installing system update’ message will show for 30 – 60 seconds before the Android system recovery menu options appear. Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition . Press Power key to select. Press the Volume down key to highlight yes , them and press the Power key to select. When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted. Press the Power key to restart the device. This seemed to work for now. I'll let you know if the problem re-occurs.

I started to have the same problem even after following your troubleshooting steps. I then read somewhere that clearing out the system cache might resolve the problem. So I did that and I also did not enable any of the widgets that were disabled during the reboot process. So far, no problem. However, I haven't used the camera much since then; I will let you know if I start to experience it again. I will be using the camera Weds at my granddaughter's soccer game. Hope it work.

Yes, just now (cleared cashe & data). I also disabled video stabilization since someone thought that could be the culprit. Not sure why since screen freezes even when taking still photos. I will let you know if any of this helps. If screen still freezes, I will try again in safe mode. I'll let you know results.

Well, seems like turning off Smart Stay didn't work . Camera is freezing up again, for 1- 5 seconds at a time. Wish you could provide a solution. This is maddening.

I've turned off Smart Stay and, so far, haven't noticed any problems with the camera. But then, I haven't been using the camera that much. I'll let you know in a few days if this solved my problem. Suggest others who are having this problem turn off Smart Stay to see if it works. I'm hoping it does,

It was saving to SD then I changed to internal storage. Same problem. Someone mentioned Smart Stay may be causing the problem. Can you confirm?

I am having the same problem Happens all the time. Camera just freezes for about 3-5 seconds. Video is worse. What can be done about this?
