Repairs made! The Tech came out yesterday and replacee the screen (it's amazing how few components reside in the casing). Probably took 45 minutes all in all. Samsung made this happen fairly quickly and it's much appreciated. Make sure you contact Samsung directly (not just through this forum), and as mentioned previously, offer to send your repair company (independent from Samsung most likley as in my case) a photo of the issue. It helped my folks to be certain of their diagnosis prior to coming out.

After being contacted by a local repair shop (set up through Samsung), I told them of the problem and arranged to email them pictures. This seemed to help clarify the problem, as the rep forwarded the pics to the actual service workers. That apperently helped them determine what part they needed to order. They are scheduled to make the repair tomorrow afternoon. I'll make another update then.

Craig, I contacted Samsung via the main webpage support email link. They got back to me in just over a day and started the process of lining up a repair service call. About a day after that (I started this on Friday so the weekend may have slowed things down a bit) I was contacted by a local repair company. We started the ball rolling and they should be out to my house some times this week. All that to say it seems worth it thusfar to contact them. They seem to be real concerned and determined to help. Sure thing. Here's how my screen looks. Bright spot with horizontal lines. Even on the rest of the screen where the bright spot does not occur, I can faintly seen the horizontal lines. As well, the other day the blact portions of the image started to flicker a bit slightly from rich black to a lighter black.

That's exactly how my screen image looks. I've kept it mostly off to keep it from getting to that point of melting the casing, but it's just a matter of time.

I just started having this issue today. Noticed a bright area in the bottom left corner. When feeling around there it was definitely hot. Hope to get this resolved easily enough. It's a 50" 6200 set.
