I was having the same problem with my 980 Pro 2TB, Windows 11. Fixed it by configuring Magician to initialize at Startup; I had disabled that option because I very rarely use this app so wanted to cut the bloat. After doing this and rebooting, Magician executed the firmware update correctly. I guess it uses some kernel driver that fails to load in some systems unless it loads early during boot.
