Yeah, the process is really weird. I know a few people who have everything in order to be in the beta and it's just not there. I just remind myself that it's a beta testing group, and the official rollout is only 2 months away. I didn't buy the phone with any with guarantee of a beta, but I still would really like the chance without having to sideload a zip file that will wipe my phone.

I always understood it as a carrier enforced limit. AT&T never participates, and I assume it's so they don't get customers who don't understand beta complaining and leaving their network due to bugs. I do think it should be more up to the users though, this is just where we are. I bought my note as an AT&T device, but have been running the unlocked firmware as long as I can remember. I still can't get in the beta and I'm not sure why. The process seems too finicky. Let me go to a link to register my device, tell me all the bad stuff and make me agree to some legal **bleep**, and just let me in. It's currently like some ultra secret society. But the carrier thing makes a little sense since the US carriers have their own builds with their bloat. But unlocked is unlocked!

On xda they said this method will do a factory reset. I just wish the banner would show up in the app. If you flash this in recovery, are you auto signed up for the beta?

You have to be on the unlocked firmware. The U1. Mines att, but I used Odin to flash the U1 firmware to remove the att bloat and be eligible for the beta.
