My phone was still under warranty when I developed the pink line. I called Samsung and was told I could send the phone in or make an appointment at a local retail/repair locations. I went to an official Samsung repair location, the 837 location in NYC, to have my phone looked at by an actual instead of sending it away for a repair. (I've seen the many accounts here and elsewhere of people who sent their phones in only to have be told the warranty was void after not being able to use it for 10 days or more.) After looking at my phone under a lighted magnifying glass, the technician found a location with chipped paint (not a dent) and told me that it was evidence of "impact damage" that may very well be the cause of the pink line on the opposite side of the screen (and appeared long after the paint chip did). Because I was still under warranty, the technician said they could fix the pink line problem for $239. Let me repeat that, only because of their warranty would Samsung be willing, at a price equal to 50% of a brand new phone, to repair what is an obvious manufacturer's defect. I refused to pay and took my phone.

I called Samsung about the pink line. My phone is still under warranty and so they said I could send it in for repair. Having read the negative outcomes here, I made an appointment at the local Samsung store to get the repair done. When I got there, the technician used a lit magnifying glass to find a spot on my phone where the paint was chipped. Not a dent, not a crack, a place where the paint was chipped. I was told this was a clear indication of "impact damage" and therefore it would cost $239 to get my phone repaired. Despite being under warranty. Despite this being a known problem. I took my phone back, disgusted. This is a obviously known issue that has nothing to do with how I treat my phone. It is a manufacturing issue that Samsung refuses to address. I am very disappointed with Samsung. I've used their phones for years. My whole family has. If they won't stand by their product, why should I?
