Any way to remove Now Bar from Status Bar?

Just started with new update. Takes up most of the notifications space and isn't helpful at all. Don't see any option in settings to remove it just from here.

It's so distracting in the status bar, where my brain knows notifications live. But I need to be able to control media from my lock screen. Please bring back the lock screen media player widget.
